IN PROGRESS!
Growing Pressure, Break, Repair, 2020.
This piece is a narrative of a body with chronic pain. This figure explores the tactile tightness, cracking, and fragmented pain coming from within. As the pain grows and grows, gaining pressure and volume within the body, it starts to reveal itself externally. The process of this constant battle inside the body can only heal through self-repair. The stitches are evidence of this repair – something strong to rebuild and put itself back together. The suspension brings the tension present inside to the external area around it.

Irritate and Swell, 2020.
This is a narrative piece about a body with chronic pain. A pain originating from the kidney and the tightness spreads throughout the body. My choice to keep the figure separate is to reveal the ceramic crater glaze that transforms the internal space. There is a greater distance in the figure with bloating and inflaming injury. The yarn provides a nice contrast to the hard-ceramic surface. It also relates to the soft tissue found in the interior of the body.
